Teachers’ visits to ITER in Cadarache, France
The European Commission has the pleasure to invite teachers from your association to visit ITER, the fusion energy project under construction in Cadarache, France.
Visiting ITER will be an inspiring experience for teachers, who will have the rare opportunity to get a glimpse of what will be the world’s largest and most sophisticated experimental fusion reactor. Upon returning to their schools, the teachers will be asked to dedicate classroom time to passing the knowledge gained on to their students, thereby raising awareness about this exciting field where the skills of young Europeans can make a difference in the world.
We plan 3 visits on 3 different dates (with arrivals one day before) so that teachers can choose the most convenient time for them to participate:
- Visit 1 on 16 June 2023;
- Visit 2 on 30 June 2023;
- Visit 3 on 30 August 2023.
The one-day programme will consist of an introduction to the ITER project followed by a worksite tour and an interactive workshop. The organisers will cover the cost of travel, accommodation and meals.
Note that there is a limited number of places available for each proposed date [1] and that before disseminating this invitation among your teachers, we kindly ask you to read carefully the attached file on the selection criteria and application procedure.
At this initial stage, we kindly ask you to disseminate this invitation to the teachers, identify those interested in participating and send us their full names and e-mail addresses. This can be done by simply replying to this email no later than 31 March. Based on the information received, we will then follow up directly with the teachers for official validation, registration, travel and accommodation.
For further information or questions concerning the selection criteria, application procedure, agenda, logistical arrangements, or anything else, please do not hesitate to contact us by replying to this e-mail.
